Before I became a photographer, I became a mother ...

I have always been a lover of photos. I was always the one at an event with a phone or camera in my hand, snapping away, capturing memories which are to this day cherished and loved by my family and friends.
Then along came my son and I found a whole new meaning to photography. Naturally, I started to take, what felt like, a million photos of him and my everyday life as a mother. Taking those photos ignited a desire in me that wanted to save the smallest of memories because even then, even though the days were sometimes long, I knew how precious and fleeting those moments would be.

And so, I took the desire I had for wanting to save my tiny baby's details and I decided to turn it into a career, a career that I am deeply passionate about in so many ways. I can not describe how amazing it feels to give other parents those memories of their own little ones and I truly believe my experiences as a mother gives me a better understanding of maternity, newborn and family photography.

When I first started my photography, I really thought I would only specialise in natural shots with only white surroundings and as much as I still love those types of shots, I also love creating fun shoots and the type of sessions where the parents awe their tiny newborn with an adorable bunny or bear bonnet on.

Over time my photography has become very tailored to the tastes and needs of my clients ... after all, these are your babies and are your memories I am capturing so why shouldn't they be all about what you and your family like.

So at HJM Photography, I specialise in beautiful blossoming bumps, natural dreamy newborn shots, perfectly posed with the cutest of bonnets, cake smashing tots and family shoots for the entire family - including the fur babies.
