JK Balloons and Events creates and provides bespoke balloon décor and prop hire for all events including birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, baby showers, proms, graduations and corporate events. They can cater for small intimate celebrations or large corporate events and everything in between.

What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For us to provide a quote to a customer we typically require the event date, the nature/type of the event being hosted, the venue if possible and whether the event will be held indoors or outdoors. It is also useful to understand the clients theme / colour scheme. From this we will be able to put together a suitable list of potential props / décor suggestions and prices.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

It's important that the balloon artist or event décor specialist has expertise in their field. A number of things that may be useful when deciding on what hire provider to go with is to look for Google reviews/recommendations about the company. Do they have a website? Do they invest in training and good quality materials and props? Are they registered with a professional body and have public liability insurance?

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

JK Balloons and Events was created after a part-time passion spiralled into a viable full-time business. I was working as a physiotherapist and creating small gifts/balloon décor arrangements part-time. Due to Covid my physiotherapy business subsided and I had more time to spend being creative and I fell in love with the freedom to create whatever people wanted. There were no limits and this soon grew as I took on bigger events. I am a people person and with my health care professional background my whole ethos is centred around people, bringing their vision to life and attention to detail all whilst focusing on excellent customer service. I want to make people happy and I love seeing the end result and how this makes other people feel.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I have had several bookings through this platform but sometimes it has been difficult due to lack of details from potential clients - that's not their fault. A lot of the time people do not necessarily know what they really want. I did have a corporate event which was a brand launch where I provided lots of large balloons, table centrepieces and light-up letters.
