What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
For us to provide a comprehensive quote to customers, ideally we need the event date, a brief explanation of the type of event including any themes ideas for an event they are hosting, an estimated number of guests, and the potential venue, whether it's an indoor or outdoor event. From this information, we can use our experience and expertise to put together an initial equipment list and suggest design options.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Firstly, ask the provider about the product they are offering and what education and/or certified training they have that relates to this work, its really important that a balloon artist holds at least a level 1/2 in balloon basics. Alongside this, always ask what Insurances the individual/company have in place e.g. Public & Products Liability Insurance Cover, Employers Liability Insurance Cover, Legal Insurance Cover and are they a member of an industry alliance e.g. BAPIA, NABAS or PEBA UK (Pro Environment Balloon Alliance) a balloon company should as a minimum support the PEBA UK (Pro Environment Balloon Alliance), ethos, its the UK arm of a worldwide organisation committed to striking a balance between the balloon industry and environmental responsibility.
Also ALWAYS focus on the quality of the products being offered to you, question the latex biodegradable products, are they CE marked/approved, because, in the end, you get what you pay for. When it's for something memorable it should always be the best!
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
Balloon Treats was born out of love for all things event planning, colour coordination and balloons! I have spent a decade as an event planner for corporate clients and private individuals, the key to the success of these events was colour coordination and placement of product throughout the event. Colour plays such an important role in conveying information nonverbally, creating certain moods, and even influences decisions, knowing what colours mean and what responses they can elicit is a useful tool when designing displays, get it wrong the customer is disappointed leaving a negative effect, get it right, the customer is elated leaving a positive effect. During the planning of my birthday Balloon Treats was formulated, I wanted to create a balloon décor business with an event colour coordination service, a balloon business that had the customer focus at its core.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
We are very new to Add to Event and are still finding our way around the platform. Requests for our selected area are coming in and we are working hard on responding to them all.
