What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
To provide a quote to a customer we would need the event date and location, what it is they are looking to hire and the length of time they would like to hire for. We also ask for a budget so we can get an idea of what would work best for the customer. We would then send over a full detailed quote stating about security deposits and terms and conditions so customers know exactly what to expect.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I would make sure that the provider knows exactly what they are talking about in the event business, I would also scope out google and Facebook reviews and make sure they have a good portfolio. There are a lot of companies that are scams or use cheaply made equipment, I would advise you to look through all pictures thoroughly and ask as many questions as needed to make sure you get a great supplier, cheaper is not always better!
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
P&A Events NorthEast was started by my partner and I in the first lockdown of 2020. At the time I was a hairdresser and my partner was a dry liner and joiner on building sites, both unable to work with lockdown we decided to put our heads together and I thought party planning and decorations would be a great business, I am very creative with my hair side of things and my partner can make almost anything out of wood so the pair of us make a great team and it enables us to make absolutely anything to suit our customers we are so happy we took that step as its now out full-time job and its so enjoyable.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
We haven't yet had a booking through Add to Event but I have submitted 5 quotes to customers in my area requesting equipment, I can't believe I haven't seen this site before. I think it will be a great add-on to our social media and will get us a lot more business. It's great to be able to view exactly what a customer is wanting and dates/ times etc to stop us sending multiple messages back and forth to check these as we would via email or socials. I will definitely recommend this site to other suppliers in the event business.
