Artistic Strokes is a small local business started by beauty therapist, makeup artist, face & body painter and all round artist, Muna Hashim, combining the love of makeup, beauty and art. They are based in London and supported by the Princes Trust.
What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
For Artistic Strokes to provide a comprehensive quote to a customer, ideally I would need the type of event it is, the event date, the service that you're interested in, the venue address, the theme also a rough number of guests can help estimate how much time is realistically needed. Will the event be indoors or outdoors, will a table and chairs be provided.
We then can work out what is the best price for what you want, catering to your needs.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I would make sure to ask that the artist is fully insured and using the best products, you can ask them to name some of the brands used. They shouldn't be offended if working in the right way.
Ask how long they have been working in this field and what experience they have. If they love what they do they will be passionate to share their experience.
I would ask if there is a portfolio of work to see and to choose from. Allowing you to see their work quality.
I would expect a friendly professional service and a helpful manner.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
Artistic Strokes started with Muna. An artist from a young age who loved to draw, paint and create.
Then going on to study Beauty and then specialising in Makeup Artistry. She then went on to open her own small local business supported by the Prince's trust and then expanded her work to create Artistic Strokes in 2013.
With experience from fashion shows to photo shoots to painting at Nottinghill carnival as well as great at SFX makeup, has built her own empire. Now selling artwork as well as handmade jewellery on her website, photography as well as her speciality makeup and face and body painting. All things arty!
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
Well, I was quite worried about joining up, I was recommended to the site by a friend and I'm really happy that I did.
Within a week or two of signing up, I was being sent lots of jobs and having to pick and choose which were best for me, my best so far I would have to say was while working at a Pub for the Queen's Jubilee recently, I had a great two days. The staff were lovely. It was raining but the people there still made the most of it and had fun regardless. I even stayed behind to enjoy the music after finishing. Great reviews about my work from all that got painted and passed by and I sold a pair of my handmade earrings as well which was a bonus and the owner and I are in talks about future work.
So well worth the money paid for credits. I have been recommending Add to Event to all of my friends that work in events/in my field. Looking forward to getting more exposure and jobs.
