What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
Cake's Entertainment provides quotes based on mainly event dates and the popularity of these dates. Giving us a general venue location means we can also include all travel costs and accommodation if necessary. Other factors to accurate quoting are how long do you want the acts to be on site and the performing slots that you require to be filled. Your event may only require one entertainer or possibly more if guests numbers are large, so knowing the number of guests and time length of the event means we can judge better what type of entertaining skill sets we propose to you. Finally, an event theme/type gives us something to work within a creative sense and also possibly provide 'off the shelf' attire/costumes/corporate colours.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
If your event requires entertainers for common seasonal dates such as:
Weekends end of May / Fetes / Fairs and Fun days in June & July / August trade fairs / Winter Weekend Balls / Halloween / Bonfire / December Xmas / January Black Friday / Blue Flag sales / Easter weekend / May fest / Solstice then book early to avoid a limited performer availability. Many a public event organizer re-books an entertainer repeatedly for over a decade with the booking done a year in advance.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
Cake's Entertainment was established officially on the 1st of January yr 2000. This was a period of 'Boom' and it seemed the perfect time to start an entertainment company. I had eight years of creative experience of attending fine art schools on top of a foundation in workshop engineering there for something had to give. Being subliminally inspired by characters such as Harold Loyd, Billie Connely, Python, The Goonies, etc.. and while later developing as an actor in theatre venues I met the street circus entertainer Sparky (Mark Seagal) and he tutored a circus workshop on juggling and balance and after that I was hooked, both line and sinker, to street circus performing. Entering the entertainment market I was quite taken aback at the diverse opportunities available and even more for the multi-skilled performer. From entertaining Royalty, to appearing on TV you just never know what's next on the entertainment table.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
As developing members of Add to Event we have had eight bookings now, an improvement on other available platforms and we are delighted with the different type of events obtained through the Add to Event interface. From Festival to Corporate and private events our services have expanded with attaining these opportunities. We have made a transition from traditional 'copper wire' telephone booking agents to more immediate IT technologies and it is obvious to see the advantages of the Add to Event interface for the client to performer communications along with the algorithmic sourcing of acts in the first place. I saw this coming and it's now here and its called Add to Event.
Our reviews show that the flow of communication is the driving line to establishing a customer-client relationship.
