AMAI BITES
Amai Bites supply amazing curries whether they are Thai, Indian or Caribbean and also beef, pork and chicken roasts and specialise in both private and intimate events as well as grand occasions! With some great experience behind them, they know a thing or two about what you should look out for when hiring a caterer.
What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
To provide the best comprehensive quote to a customer, preferably we would need an explanation of the type of service they will require, the precise number of guests, their budget, the date of the event and also the venue. We also require to know if the venue has a kitchen or not. From that given information, we as caterers are able to provide a suitable quote to the customer's needs.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Firstly, if a caterer provides the customer with a quote, I would advise that if they don't want that service at least they should reply the caterer or if they are interested they should reply in time rather than a few days before their event. This helps the caterer to have time to prepare so that they can provide the best service. Customers should also specify the type of service that they require.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
Amai Bites food and beverages was created out of love. The name Amai means mother, (In Shona) and it came from the love I have for my grandmother. My grandmother is a hard worker, she raised me by ensuring I was able to do things using my own hands. When her husband passed away, she started making and supplying baked foods to local shops. Being that type of strong woman she managed the struggles that most African women face after the death of a loved one. I started having a passion for cooking from a young age, then I moved to England where I had the opportunity of learning and crafting my own dishes. Each time I make a dish, I ensure that it's more perfect the next time I make it. I started getting lessons from other chefs from different countries who would teach me some of their staple dishes. My husband has been the most supportive person and he is the one who pushed me into starting Amai Bites. Amai divides into different types of services which include Southern African BBQ, Grazing tables, Desserts, Mock-tails & Cocktails, Mobile European Catering, Pan African, European, Asian and American hot and cold buffet food. We ensure the service we provide is very top quality and customers get more than what they would have paid for.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
There are a lot of events that come through on Add to Event. We've recently joined and have only done a few mobile catering events. But for those few events, we managed to pull through and have been such a success. Some of our clients even wanted us to come back the next day. The customers really enjoyed our Belgian twice-fried chips and we get really good support from Add to Event.

About Catering
Some see organising party food catering as a chore or a necessity, but for some events the party food is the highlight. Caterers are continually innovating to create something new, different and delicious (like a hog roast), so finding your party food caterers doesn’t have to be dull. Whether it’s a designer wedding cake, fish and chip cones, or a buffet, food is great way to get people talking. The choice is yours; menus are often customisable and dietary requirements and preferences catered for.
From private party catering chefs and silver service to a catering food van for outside mobile catering, offering pizzas, ice cream or even cocktails. Complete your party catering supplies by requesting a quote from our extensive list of party caterers. Once the food is sorted, why not look to hire a DJ for your event to really get the party started!
