What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For me to produce a wonderful bespoke party entertainment for your little one I need to first know the age of the child and the general ages of their friends attending. Then, it's helpful for me to know the date and approximate location of your party - this could be a hired venue or your own home! It's good to know how much space we have to use. Then, I like to know what things your little ones love - do they have a favourite book, character or theme? Perhaps it's Pirates, Princesses, Unicorns or Mermaids? Maybe Safari animals, Dinosaurs or Space exploration? This can help me create an imaginary world for us to play. From all this information, I can give a suitable quote for costs and time.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

First, I would ensure the provider gave a comprehensive description of what they are able to offer. Then I would check out their credentials, their Facebook page and website. It is also really helpful to chat directly to the provider to get a sense of their service and attention to detail - when organising a celebration for children it is crucial that the provider of entertainment is reliable, warm and friendly, but also had the necessary legal checks etc.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

After formal training in Drama at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, I spent 12 years working in education. Eventually I wanted to return to creating drama with children and found Debutots. I bought this franchise because I love the Debutots way of doing things - we create a whole imaginary world within the minds of the little ones we work with. We delight in the art of oral storytelling, and we bring our unique stories to life using dramatic play and other drama conventions as well as music, puppets and games. I particularly love entertaining at children's parties because what we do is so different and it's wonderful to see all the children engrossed in our adventure!

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I've had several bookings through Add to Event and so far it's been a great way to let potential clients know about my service. We've had many bespoke themes requested, and because each child is so unique we are able to bring their love of a book or character, or theme to life! One little chap just loved everything to do with the Police - we based his session around a unique story involving the police, with dancing, a treasure hunt, parachute play and drama. On another occasion, I did a joint party for a brother and sister who just loved Ben and Holly's Magic Kingdom. Their party was outside in a local forest - we had an amazing Ben and Holly themed adventure with fairies, elves and ladybirds!
