What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Always ask the appropriate questions, i.e what type of music do they play, what are their back up plans in the event of equipment failure (us professionals always have an alternative in the event of equipment failure)

What type of experience does the supplier have in the field that you require, I.e if you're looking for a children’s party DJ, has the DJ worked with children before or if it’s a retirement party for Bill who’s leaving work after 50 years next Friday, the chances are you're not going to want a DJ whose usual Friday night is Dj’ing the local nightclubs to a bunch of 18-year-olds.

Always look at the supplier's reviews, and use your head when doing so, if DJ Frank has 10 5* reviews but 7 of those shared Franks last name the chances are his family think he’s great, look for real reviews from previous clients maybe even contact some of those reviewers and ask them questions relating to events and how they found that supplier, if it’s fake it usually doesn't take very long to figure it out.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

At the tender age of 14 I used to go out as a roadie to my big brother and his mobile roadshow, by the age of 18 after spending the previous few years watching and learning my craft, I set out to fill dance floors on my own, spending the first few years in the pub and social club circuit and getting the occasional birthday party or wedding whilst working alongside my full time day job until 2007 now with a wife and 2 kids something had to give, so I packed in the day job. The next few years were tough making a living out of just a few jobs here and there eventually after a couple of back to back strokes of good luck and hard work I eventually had made a name for myself and enough work was coming for me not to even have to advertise anymore. Then I found my true special talent of being great with the kids and organically more and more children’s work started coming in, now 50% of my total yearly workload is working with kids, which is absolutely great as I truly love my job and seeing happy faces is the best feeling ever

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I’ve actually had a few bookings so far and they have been totally varied from a children’s year 6 leavers party, a wedding right through to a corporate awards evening

Corporate events are something I used to do a lot of a few years ago, but that side of the business took a back step when I started the kid's parties. But it was great Add to Event paired me up with the lovely Jane from holidaysplease, her event was in a lovely hotel in Stratford upon Avon, the event went very well and I have feedback after which stated they’ll be seeing me again for next years awards.
