What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

To provide an accurate quote, we need the date of the event and anticipated numbers indicating if that is based on previous years or your best estimate. What time is site access and egress? Is the access to the proposed pitch accessible by motor vehicle? Is there access to power, water, and waste? All of this helps us give an exact quote.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

It's all about experience. If a barista has been trading for years then it is likely that he understands the delivery of service is a marriage between speed and quality. If the barista hasn't mastered it, it's unlikely they will be in business for very long. He should be able to ask the right questions so that you can make an informed decision. How many baristas per event, how many machines, size of the cups, number of shots per cup, whole fat milk, branding - it's your event, we are just here to make it the best it can be!

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

White and Black Coffee Company was formed 10 years ago. I had attended an outdoor musical festival hosted by the BSO. I had queued for an eternity at a food outlet and paid an unreasonable price for tepid cup of dishwater calling itself instant coffee (it was neither!). I knew there had to be a better product available, and now there is!

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

Joining Add to Event has been the best decision I have ever made. I've certainly done my fair share of weddings, the morning after and corporate functions but the most memorable event was for a titled person. The grounds were fabulous and the scale of the event was far larger than anticipated. My black Piaggio coffee van was adorned with balloons and ribbons, and looked fantastic.

This may sound obvious, but espresso bars/vans (I have both) are booked by those appreciating the caffeine based drink. My experience is that their friends do too. Receiving compliments for delivering a theatrical experience making coffee is a buzz. I never tire of it. Bring it on!
