What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

In order to provide a quote that is pretty much spot on we only need to know 3 things; 1: when is your event; 2: what time do you want us there; 3: how many people will attend. This gives us enough information to provide you with a quote that will not be different to the invoice you will receive when going ahead. However, the fun really is about talking to us about how we can make your event a success. Any special requests you have such as decor, special toppings and where we set-up our trailer is what we like to discuss with you, not via email or social media but through the good old phone.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

It's important to have a good idea on how you see your own event organised and how does a trader like The Clog & Pancake fit into that. Knowing what you want is important, and if you decide on a sweet food option, check the different types that are offered. Our mini-pancakes (poffertjes in Dutch) are part of the pancake, crepe, churros, and to some extent donuts/muffin/cupcake food types. So a huge range to choose from, and I bet all of them will be great and of the highest quality. So choose one based on what you find out about them via the various social channels we have these days. Choose the ones that stand out to you, based on look-and-feel, product offerings, reviews? Now you're getting to the point where you can contact the trader. Speak to them and get a feeling about them and if they are right for you. Also ask them what, based on their experience, your event may need to be really successful. It's likely that they can give you great advice when organising your event.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

The Clog & Pancake is a dream come true...yep very cliche but it is what it is. After working in the corporate world for over 20 years at very senior levels, and being a bit disillusioned with it all I came to the conclusion that a change was needed. The move of our family to the UK in 2017 was the instigator for that change, and it was then and there that I decided to start my own pancake business. Although my ultimate dream is to open up a Dutch style pancake house, I needed to get my feet wet in the food industry and I got myself a very retro Rice horsebox. The Clog & Pancake was born in September 2017 and started trading in December that same year. Although it is still early days, things are going really well. The part I like best is that I have direct interaction with my customers. They order their pancakes and while I bake them we have a nice little chat. Then they try the food and ...WHAM...big smile on their face, they absolutely love them! Makes them happy, makes me happy!

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I just got on to Add to Event recently but I already have quite a lot of bookings! I do get a lot of requests for my type of food offering so there are a lot of opportunities out there. So far I have bookings for weddings, corporate events and birthday parties. It's great to have these types of bookings as it helps us to broaden our event portfolio. Add to Event has been very well designed and is easy to use. When a request comes in, the overview of the event is very useful as it gives everything you need to know in a single page. I also like the feature of having more than one template. I now have one for weddings, corporate and parties, brilliant! Although I consider myself still a rookie in this business, I do recommend Add to Event to other traders when I meet them at events. I've noticed that those who are not a member yet have heard about it, so the word goes around. Happy to do my bit to get them signed up!
