What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

In order for us to provide a comprehensive quote, we need to know the following: the start time and duration of the party and music preferences. We need the venue address and either reserved parking or the parking paid for by the customer. It's important that there is a lift if the hall is above ground level and there must be a safe area for the DJ to be able to set up and work.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

We advise checking that a DJ has the appropriate certification in order to carry out work: insurance, PAT test certification, for example. Ensure they are able to play radio edits at children's parties: edits in songs that are not explicit. Qualifications are a bonus, in skill areas such as: DJ-ing, customer service, effective communication and the ability to interact with people professionally.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I started the business as I have always been a collector of music, even as a child. I have thousands of
records going way back. I started out as a radio DJ at college; studying sound engineering and music technology and set up my own recording studio, producing music. I have also played at some of the biggest venues, such as: Camden Palace, Bagleys, Coliseum etc. Continually updating my knowledge, I enjoy working with people. My daytime job is as a playworker, working with children of all abilities; I have substantial qualifications.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
