What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

Usually in order to provide a fully comprehensive quote, I'll require the date, time and location of the event along with what type of entertainment they specifically are looking for. Whether it's a stand-up/ stage/ after dinner performance to the whole room or some mix and mingle magic during a drinks reception or sometimes even both!
Giving these key pieces of information along with a short explanation of the format of the event allows me to tailor my quote and suggestion to their specific needs.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I would always suggest doing a bit of research. Check out their website, their social media and their marketing materials. Are they up to date? Are they professional? Do they clearly have experience doing what they say they do?
When hiring an entertainer, it can always be a bit of a temptation to go with the cheapest option but ultimately, you have to ask yourself why they are the cheapest. If you want to trust the entertainment at your event to someone who can't demonstrate experience then you're taking a big risk!

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I started performing magic when I was at University studying Mechanical Engineering. I've always loved knowing how things work and so I fell in love with magic as a unique way to use my logical mind to make amazing entertaining shows. I love making people laugh, smile and gasp and producing magic really puts me in the middle of those emotions for people constantly.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I've been using Add To Event for a few years and have had some great bookings through here! A few years ago, I did a 50th wedding anniversary celebration that always stands out in my memory as the husband had asked me if I could design a custom magic trick for him to allow him to magically produce the gift he'd bought his wife. It was a beautiful diamond necklace and so I helped him learn a simple way to light a piece of string on fire and in a puff of smoke, the string magically changed into the necklace, wowing all his guests - not to mention his wife!
