What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

Date and if known, the time of your event. Venue name and address. Type of event you are hosting. If entertainment is for children, how many do you expect and what is the age range? Type of entertainment you require.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

When considering a provider I would advise you check they have a good number of reviews. Also, check they have the insurance etc. It is always good to have a telephone conversation if you are booking someone to entertain your children.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Well, I didn't plan to be a children's entertainer. The profession sort of happened to me. When my children were little I did some face painting as my husband was chairman of the school PTA so I felt duty-bound to do something to raise money. But immediately people requested I come to their parties as they loved what I did. I soon discovered balloons and became known internationally for my work within a couple of years. Eventually being picked for an award as International Balloon Twister of the year. Quite an honour! I always got bored watching magic shows with my girls and occasionally felt despair when the show went on and on! So I decided not to bore my audience and let them have a laugh at my expense as I remembered a few times the magic went wrong and how funny it was. So it was a natural evolution for me to be doing the entertaining and I love it. What can be nicer than making people smile and making nice fun memories for my clients!
