Professional Medical Ambulance Services Limited provides a comprehensive medical, ambulance and first aid service to events of all types and sizes. Please read on for a lot more information about the valuable service this company offers.

What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

Where is the event taking place, when is it taking place (1 day, 2 days, etc; how many hours each day; is there overnight accommodation, etc), who is attending (how many people spectating, how many people performing/competing, how many staff, maximum number on-site, total number across the whole event, etc), what are you doing (stalls, stage acts, sports fixtures, etc), why are you doing it (what is causing people to turn up, essentially), and how are you going to achieve this (do you have an event management plan or any risk assessments).

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Would you feel confident having your mother/sister/daughter/etc receiving emergency medical care/treatment from this organisation? Are they being thorough enough with me, so that I know they're leaving no stone unturned when it comes to making sure they're providing the right level of service?
When you remember that your event medical provider can literally be the difference between life & death if something goes wrong, you should feel confident about asking for anything you need upfront - even at the quotation stage! That's insurance confirmation (make sure that professional indemnity / medical malpractice is covered, with the figure having lots of zeroes on it), it's the waste carrier registration, the ICO registration, how they vet their staff, etc.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

As freelance staff, we'd had too many experiences of seeing medical providers not doing the job very well at all. So, we decided to do things properly. We bought our own equipment. We registered for everything we needed to do - data protection, transporting our own waste, etc. We took out a very good level of insurance cover. We found a reputable agent to service our equipment regularly. We found a reputable supplier to replenish our consumable stock in plenty of time before it expired. We discovered how to validate certificates with awarding bodies, how to check driving license online, how to use the DBS update service, we made sure that we interviewed all staff before letting them see any shifts. We bought branded uniform - so our name was attached to everything we do - meaning good or bad, we'd rise or fall based on what we do. We looked at voluntary registrations - things like the real living wage, mindful employer, etc - to see how we could make ourselves even better.
And since then? Well, we've done what we set out to do - provide event medical cover delivering the highest quality of clinical care, backed up with exceptional operational support.
