What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
To provide an accurate quote for your event we would require the full address of the venue including postcode and type of venue such as village hall, outdoor park, or private home. We would also like to know the number of guests at your event, including age ranges. The booking times for your event, for example 'the party is from 1-4pm, we would like the entertainment there from 2-4pm'. If it's a birthday party we need the age, sex, and name of the birthday child. Please also let us know if there is a theme for the party so we can be prepared.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Always check that they are fully insured. Ask how long they have been in business. A new face painter may not be able to work quickly and keep up in certain situations and/or maintain a high level of quality work. Check the quality of their work either by doing more research online or by asking for examples of their recent work. Check that they maintain high cleanliness standards with their kit and that they only use cosmetic grade face paints and glitters.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
I saw a face painter back in Canada who did amazing work and always thought I'd like to give it a try. I was able to find professional face painting courses when I moved to the UK. I was hooked! I have always been an artist and studied art back in Canada, so it was a perfect fit. Also, being new to the UK, it has helped me to get out more and meet loads of interesting people. The best part of my job is working with kids who absolutely love whatever I paint on them.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
I have had a few bookings through Add to Event. The most interesting booking was for a launch of a drinks company and we painted at Peterborough Show Grounds. It was such a unique event with a unique theme. I painted "fruit emojis" on a large number of school children. I was a great day!
