Founded in April 2016, Blue Kangaroo Entertainment offers face and body art services for public and private events within East Anglia. Based in Cambridgeshire, they also provide festival glitter, henna and temporary tattoos.

What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

When asking for a quotation for face and body art, it's important to include the date and time as well as the location, and most importantly the approximate number and ages of the guests you expect. It's worth mentioning if your event is likely to be held outside, as well as letting us know if we need to bring tables, chairs, gazebo etc. - this way we can be fully prepared for what we need. If you have any special requests or themes, then let us know so we can include this into your package and for public events advise whether you will be paying the artist up front, or are charging a percentage/pitch fee - if so, expected footfall is also useful to know.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

ALWAYS make sure that your face painter/body artist has Public Liability Insurance, uses only hypo allergenic quality products which meet the strict EU regulations, and ensure that they only ever use cosmetic grade glues and glitters. Health and safety should be paramount, and feel free to ask questions about good practice, products and so on - you should be confident that your painter knows what they are doing! A professional face painter will be able to paint between 8-12 faces per hour and please bear in mind that face paint is not suitable for children under 3 years old, as advised by the manufacturers.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I have 7 children, and really needed a job which was flexible enough to fit around our enormous family ideally within the creative field, and so Blue Kangaroo Entertainment was born in April 2016! My little company has grown fast to become one of the regions top face painting companies, winning multiple National level awards for my designs and with an excellent 5* customer satisfaction rating too. I have such passion for what I do, whether it is painting children at a party, creating a bespoke body paint for an advert or having the privilege to create some pregnancy art for a Mum-to be. I absolutely have the best job in the world without a doubt. I am continually developing, improving and trying new designs and products to ensure that I can offer the best face and body art to my clients and customers.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I've not been with Add to Event for very long, but the very last booking I took for 2017 was through this platform. I was asked to go along and provide face paint and glitter tattoos for a dear little girl and some of her friends - it's always such a pleasure to do smaller parties because you can really spend some time creating each individual face, chatting with the children and just enjoying the moment. My client was very happy with the level of service I gave, recommending me to her friends - I've had two subsequent bookings as a result of this. Add to Event is so easy to use, flexible and fairly consistent with a regular flow of enquiries which is great! It's good to be able to just select the enquiries which appeal or which I have availability for.
