What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
For us to provide an accurate quote, ideally we need the event date and times and a brief explanation of the type of event they are hosting. Also the estimated number of guests and whether it will be an inside or outside venue.
From this information, we can use our experience and expertise to put together a suitable quote which takes into account all factors.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Firstly ask the provider whether they are insured and check that they use safety-tested products suitable for use on the body. There are a lot of products that aren't suitable and can cause terrible skin reactions so this is vitally important.
Ask the provider which services they do and what is included in the quote or if they will be charging extra for certain things like bling or glitter. It may be a good idea to find out what experience they have with children if it is for a child's event to ensure they know how to talk to kids, after all, a person who can interact better with children will make for a better event.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
Over the Rainbow was started after I spent over 25 years working with, and having my own children, and discovering in that time that my favourite thing to do with kids was arts and crafts! I face painted, not professionally, during that time, for the children I cared for and for friends kids parties as a bit of fun. I didn't decide to turn professional until we moved to Cyprus in 2017 and I realised it was what I wanted to do. I set up gradually whilst I was there and painted at lots of different events, discovering that language doesn't have to be a barrier in entertaining children! When I returned to the UK I carried on face painting and have been building up my business here since. I am loving meeting so many different people and experiencing lots of different cultures and events. I have definitely chosen the right job!
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
Add to Event has been amazing in establishing my business here. I have lots of quote requests and booked a fair few jobs, all completely different. If I was to choose one it would be an event to celebrate the end of Ramadan. I have never experienced this kind of event before and found very interesting and extremely fun. There were loads of kids who all wanted different designs and even requested their own ideas. I loved this as sometimes kids see one design and they all want the same, so to do a big variety was really great.
My handmade bling was really popular with both boys and girls and the parents were very welcoming and friendly. All saying they would use my services again.
I would definitely recommend Add to Event to anyone who wants to establish a business.
