What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

The most important thing that I need to know from a customer to get a comprehensive quote is the event date and time that they are looking for so that I can check my availability. Then the location so I can see if it is feasible for me to get from any existing commitments that I have to your event. The number of guests, whether there is a specific theme, whether they have any specific requirements. If the event is indoors or outdoors.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Firstly, I would ask the customer to consider that the cheapest quote may not always be the best value or provide the best service for their event. To check whether the company has public liability insurance and for face painting how many children they can paint in an hour. To be realistic with the amount of time that you are looking to have a face painter at your event, for example if you have 25 children at a party it will not be possible to paint 25 children in 1 hour, you may think that not all the children will not want painting but normally from experience the majority of the children will want their faces painted if you have underestimated the amount of time you want your face painter to be at your event, they may have to turn children away which can be very awkward and difficult for the face painter as they don't want to disappoint children.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Flutterby Face painting was created as I love working with children and also I love being creative and am very artistic. I love having the ability to make a child or adult look completely different and see the surprise on their face when they see themselves in the mirror. I like providing excellent service and always looking to improve my face painting.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I have had a number of bookings through Add to Event including corporate events and children's parties. With the corporate events, I would have never thought of contacting these type of companies for work and gave me the opportunity to think outside the box of companies that I could potentially contact in the future for work. One of my favourite bookings was definitely for a corporate booking in a well-known clothes chain where the staff were absolutely lovely and I painted lots of little faces. The client was very happy and has since contacted me for future events.
