What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

In order to provide a comprehensive quote, I need to know the date and location of the event; what time it starts and ends and how long my services will be required. In addition, I also need to know the type of event (child/teen birthday/wedding/corporate/hen do etc), how many guests will require painting etc, which service/s required (Face painting / Glitter / Temp tattoos). If you are organising a village fete or similar, then I would need to know if I will be paid a fee to provide a free service or will pay a pitch fee/donation and charge customers individually.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Ask the provider about their experience, whether they are insured and DBS checked. Ask for images and/ or check out their website and social media platforms to see examples of their work. Check out their reviews and recommendations as pictures can lie!!

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I was a museum curator for 10+ years and, as the arty one on the staff, I got to do face painting for all the kids and family fun events we did. When I left to raise my own family I carried on face painting at school fairs, Halloween parties etc. I was asked to do local Village fetes and the occasional birthday party too. Four years ago I left a part-time job working with adults with learning disabilities, due to changes in the management structure and decided to have a go at making face painting my job! It has taken off and I'm absolutely loving it. I get to travel all over the north of England and meet lots of wonderful people, being creative and bringing joy to kids of all ages!!

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I'm brand new to Add to Event but the bookings are coming in fast. My first one is 11th July so I'll tell you all about it afterwards....
The best things about Add To Event are the number of requests I'm getting compared with other events companies I have used and also the location of the requests, which are all within reasonable travelling distance. I'm really pleased with it.
