Based in Stockbridge in Hampshire, Event Power Engineering Ltd provides event power and lighting hire, sales and installation across the UK. They cater for a range of events, from small private functions to public events.

What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For a fast and accurate quotation, we ideally need the following: event live dates, delivery date and collection date, the venue address and information about the power requirements. This could be a list of kit that needs powering, the other trades that need power or just a rough estimate of power draw.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Many other trades offer power as a cheap add on however this may not be the right solution for the event. If a marquee builder has a generator knocking around that they can rent out for £100, when was it last serviced, how many hours has it done and what is the procedure for when it goes wrong. It may cost a bit more to get another provider on site, but at least you have peace of mind that they have the knowledge and expertise in that field.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Event Power Engineering was born out of the passion of 2 Engineers that wanted to provide an environmentally friendly and efficient way of providing power to temporary events. We have worked on events previously, where we saw that with a little more planning ahead of the event, we can dramatically cut costs and fuel as well as providing a more stable system.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We have only recently started on Add to Event and we have already found that as a lead generation tool, it is far more efficient that Google Adwords. For our first confirmed event through Add to Event, we provided power for a sporting event. This was a challenge to keep the costs down while providing 24 hour power for a weekend filling with sport, camping and partying. I have referred others to Add to Event and keep the tab open whenever I am in the office.
