What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

In order to provide a comprehensive quote to a customer, firstly we would need the event date, the type of event taking place and the duration of the event. Secondly we could need to know how many children are expected to be painted at the event- this helps us to figure out the duration of time required. And last of all a note to let us know whether the event is indoors or outdoors. All of the above information helps us to figure out an accurate quote and the logistics of giving you the best service possible.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

One main piece of advice to give to a customer has to be regarding painting under 3-year-olds. As an industry standard, the face paints haven’t been tested on under 3’s and as their skin is super sensitive when they are so little, I would advise customers to ask face-painter policies on painting under 3’s. This way you will be able to see the experience of the painter and whether they are adhering to this important rule. I personally do offer an alternative of arm painting instead, so they don’t miss out on the fun.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I have always been an artist and love to paint and draw. One day I saw an old Uni friend’s Facebook post and she was face painting and had her own business. I decided that is what I was going to do… so I bought a cheap box of paints, asked my 7-year-old cousin to be my model every Friday when I babysat him. (Note: I paid him £5 a week at his request) and began my dream journey of painting faces. I began to build a good reputation locally and around the city of Leeds. 9 years later and this year has been the most successful yet, working with 3 big brands and getting repeat custom. This year we took on 4 more staff and worked our busiest festival year to date. It’s such an exciting journey to be on. We are making children’s dreams come true and spreading glitter and magic wherever we go. It’s incredibly inspiring!

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

Add to Event has been great for bookings, I painted at a really lovely event for a local nursery. The sun was shining, the bunting was hanging and there was live music being played with a massive queue for face-painting (as ever!). There were lots of designs chosen including bright and beautiful rainbow butterflies, the classic Spider-Man and a fabulous pirate.

Such a lovely event and it was an honour to be chosen to attend ✨
