What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
First and foremost, a concrete date is vital. We really like to listen to what they want, ideas they've got and things they love. Having timings for an event is also very crucial plus a good idea on guest numbers. Everything else can be worked into the event at later stages. The type of guest such as children or those with dietary requirements is also helpful at the start so we can put together a price that encompasses all these elements. Finally, indoor, outdoor, field or barn - or even your garden at home. Let us have this information and we can then tailor your quote to fit.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Look for quality over price. The cheapest quotes can sometimes mean a much lesser service or product. Keep an eye for any extras that may not be included in the price such as delivery charges or cleaning charges. Finally, the look of the setup - does this fit with your ideas and visions? For us, it needs to look professional to be professional. Quality equipment usually means a better product.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
Hogs Harvest came about from years and years of tasting some pretty poor examples of hog roasts. Not only did we want to give the customers a proper setup with whole pigs slowly roasting, the taste had to also be there. Head chef James has spent over 15 years working in Michelin starred restaurants so we thought "what the heck, let's use his skills and deliver a top quality product in the hog world!". 7 years later and we're here. The 'eco' part came about from seeing so much 'disposable' equipment being used so for the last 3 years we've worked tirelessly with suppliers to get an almost waste/plastic free setup. No more paper plates and definitely no more plastic forks.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
The best must be a surprise birthday on August bank holiday. How we managed to sneak in a full sized pig with gazebo, lighting and everything else I'll never know but it was great. Birthday boy thoroughly enjoyed the party and all the food, especially our range of chilli jams. Add to Event has been great for us. Not only has it given us the opportunity to quote on work coming up in 12/18 months time, but is great for filling in last minute 'dates' that are free - sometimes with as little a 48 hours in advance. We've happily recommended Add to Event to many DJs and other catering suppliers in different fields.
