Icicle Tricycle, of Devon, serve a variety of traditional ice cream flavours from their vintage 1920s Pashley trike, freeing themselves of any requirements for electricity or large open areas. The trike can be customised with fairy lights of various colours to match the event theme. The ice creams come with a self-serve bar which includes additional treats such as marshmallows, chocolate flakes and jelly babies.

What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

To be able to supply a quotation to a customer we need to know the date of the event, the name and location of the venue and the estimated number of guests we need to cater for. We can then compile a comprehensive quotation tailor suited for each customer. Any dietary requirements can also be included in the quotation.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Firstly, ask the provider about the product they are offering. Ask how many years they have been trading and whether it is possible to see reviews from previous customers and assess their experiences. Also it would be necessary to ask what qualifications and insurance is held by the provider and whether they can cater for any food allergens and intolerances. Also ensure that the provider provides electricity if required.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Icicle Tricycle was created to provide a unique service to guests attending weddings, private functions and corporate parties serving real Devon ice cream from genuine 1920's Pashley ice cream trikes. The delight on customers' faces when the trikes appear and the ice cream is served is wonderful to see. The necessity to keep with the authenticity of the 1920's was paramount and trikes have been sourced from all over the UK and tenderly restored back to their former glory. It is a delight for us to hear stories from guests reminiscing about buying ice cream from one of these trikes in their childhood. The job satisfaction is immeasurable.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

Add to Event notifies us of lots of bookings within our area. We received an enquiry through Add to Event for a charity fun run at Haldon Racecourse, Exeter, which we attended. The concept of ice cream served from trikes rather than the conventional vans went down a storm, so much so that they have booked us again for 2017. When out at public fun days and speaking to other catering staff, I have often mentioned Add to Event to help them to obtain more links for gigs.
