What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

From our valuable client's information about the event is crucial as to ensure for Light My Hire to provide our fantastic products and unbeatable service.
We will need to know what type of event you're hosting, birthday party, your wedding reception, graduation ball or maybe a prom? outdoor festival or a sporting event. Whatever the event, give us a heads up as this enables us to get your product event ready. Devil is in the detail and we pride ourselves on delivering outstanding service.
The venue details are of the upmost importance, ground floor, third floor, top floor, is there a lift or is parking easy or difficult for loading and unloading. We also ask you to consider your location in terms of having to handle such items as ours - are there multiple doors to go through or is it a very simple set up via a side exit door.
Our sets do not take very long to put in place but access and the preferred location of where you want them to be placed is most crucial to us.
If you want our products outside, then no problem but we will need a level ground to site our units as to ensure we give you the wow factor rather than hmmm they look a bit crooked......first impressions!

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

First and foremost do not judge the hire alone by cost and location.
Is the supplier a legit business or a hobbyist trying to make a few pounds on the side? If it's the latter then you have no guarantee of either receiving your goods for hire, insurance may not be provided, electrical testing and maintenance records not kept up to date, these are just some of the horror stories we have come across and rectified for clients of whom have been let down last minute or disappointed with the end product/service.
Peace of mind comes with due diligence.
Trust in a business that has the pedigree and long-standing experience that can support you from start to finish.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

We used to trade as a business called BK Entertainment, mostly DJ work and bouncy castle hire on a full-time basis.
We would be either DJing or providing a castle to a kids party and they would be let down by others and so we would step in to support the customer by cross hiring some numbers from other suppliers as the hosts were so disappointed when the units hired just did not turn up. A couple of phone calls by us to our contacts and the parties had numbers arrive within the hire.
Customer so happy, we can tell you one thing about being a supplier to events - you only get one chance to impress and do not ever, ever let down someone for an event - ever!
Following these trends we spotted, we did some research into availability, business types and general quality and we were so disappointed with what we found.
Within 8 months we had manufactured over 40 light-up units, purchased over 2000 Cabachon lamps and now we are the largest hirer of light up letters and numbers in Birmingham and still growing, hence the name change....Light My Hire.
Yes it's a catchy name but it came to us a Halloween gig when a track we played by the Doors was played........can you guess which one?
Anyway, boom!!! We had a great name and very catchy, easy to remember and we have never looked back.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

Add to Event has been fantastic for Light My Hire, it's helped us to grow our profile within this type of event hire, we have undertaken many hires to all types parties and corporate events from the business generated via Add to Event and all customers have been fantastic to work for, our customers have also experienced great satisfaction and service.
One event was for Vivalda PLC in Birmingham (Dec 2019), they requested light up letters and numbers spelling out VIVALDA 20 as so they were celebrating 20 years in business by hosting a corporate event for staff and suppliers.
As requested, we arrived promptly at 6 am to set up at a business park address, we were then directed to a large warehouse to set up (we are now thinking our 4 feet high units are going to look a little lost in there) Having pulled in to the warehouse we stopped in our tracks and our jaws dropped in amazement- an indoor funfair was being set up (Dodgems, Waltzers... the full monty) before our eyes....
Where shall we set up our units Sir? on the platform built for you just over there! A stage had been constructed for speeches and awards and our arrangement was to be a backdrop.
Anyhow we set up, they looked stunning, we received superb feedback and were told endless stories regarding guest feedback of how everyone had an amazing day put on by Vivalda but all the guests wanted a photo of themselves standing in front of our large letter/number set up as to look back and say I Was There that day!
Proud as punch here at Light My Hire to have been able to provide our services to Vivalda that day.
