What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

In order to provide a quote, I just need to know when and where it'd be, the nature of the event and the timings. I always encourage people to ring and discuss it all so we can tailor a suit to fit.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I would think very carefully about the venue. I really would recommend children's parties happening at home if possible, they are always the best parties in my view but if that is not possible somewhere that has all the facilities and that is congenial for the guests to spend a happy few hours in both children and adults.
As regards a Magician, I would always get someone with a lot of experience, someone suitable for the age of the children and someone who has clearly seen and experienced the repertoire of behaviour children are capable of. A glance through any photos should be telling and seeing a video of them performing should give you a good idea of their style and whether it is appropriate.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I have always been a performer. I am also a musician and in my early years, I played boogie-woogie piano in a 9 piece R and B dance band and travelled all over Europe with a comic street theatre band called The Cosmic Sausages playing the double bass and performing 1000's of shows. My magic career started in 1997 inspired by entertaining my own children and their friends which soon evolved into an in-demand show and from there something that grew and grew.
I spent many years practising my skills and learning a repertoire of stunning tricks and illusions to go with my existing extensive street theatre skills and that led to where I am today. I still perform as a musician and have my own Jazz piano trio as well as still performing shows with The Cosmic Sausages though the Magic show has rather dominated my schedule these days and it has developed into a really great show.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I have performed several events through Add to Event. I haven't been on it that long but it has already provided some interesting events of all kinds, some children's parties, some weddings and some family parties so long may that continue! I would recommend the platform to others.
