What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

To make sure I can provide an accurate quote, ideally I need some important details such as, event date, type of event, number of guests, age range of audience (eg, kids, elderly, 18+, etc), performance start time, duration of performance, potential venue, indoor or outdoor. All these details are taken into account when quoting and using my experience, I can tailor a quote to suit your needs.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Firstly check with the provider that they actually provide the service you require, not every magician is a kids entertainer, or do close up, some just specialize in one area of Magic, so be sure to confirm first. That why I ask about audience age range when quoting, to ensure I can provide the correct service. Also, make sure the performer has Public Liability Insurance, this is for your peace of mind as much as theirs, and should, without hesitation provide proof of this.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I started this business as I had been performing Magic as a hobby for over 30 years since I was a kid. My Army career was coming to coming to an end and performing Magic professionally was an obvious step to take. There is an old saying but very true, "If you can turn your hobby into a job, you'll never work a day in your life!" I love what I do, and love entertaining people, my previous career taught me many things but being professional was up there as the most important to take with me into the business.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

I received an enquiry from a forces veterans charity and was only too happy to quote as its a subject close to my heart. The Add to Event platform makes it easy for both sides to get introduced to get the ball rolling. After discussing the finer details of the event, the client confirmed the booking through Add to Event, and it was booked. The event went really well, guests were entertained, the client was really happy and wanted to re-book me for their Christmas party, and left me a fantastic review!
