What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

To get the best quote we would need the size of your garden or venue space, the number of guests and if they are all to be seated or part seated or even standing with high bar tables and some cube seating, and last of all the budget you have in mind for your marquee, there is no good us quoting for a marquee with a wooden floor system and starlight dance floor if all you wanted was a basic but nice setup.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Look at the quotes in detail. A low price does not mean an old marquee or part time supplier, and a high price does not mean a better marquee. To keep the hire cost low some of us offer marquees with fewer linings, for example the roof is fully covered but the side linings only cover the poles going down, leaving the window in clear view.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

We started Funky Hippo after hiring a marquee ourselves for an event. We thought we could offer a service in the mid-range for people that didn't want to spend the earth on a marquee but also did not want a basic tent to hold their event in.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

Add to Event has gotten us a lot of work over the year. We did a summer party last year with two of our 4m x 8m marquees, offering guests dancing and drinks in one marquee and food in the other.
