Mexican Mobile Catering in Leeds

The Dilla Deli offers quesadillas filled with ingredients from around the world, served from their mobile purple street food gazebo in Leeds and all over the North of England. Using local produce, for their Mexican menu, wherever possible, The Dilla Deli prides themselves on being an environmentally responsible food company - even the packaging is bio-degradable!

What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

For us to provide a comprehensive quote to a customer, ideally we need the event date, a brief explanation of the type of event they are hosting, the estimated number of guests, and the time they would like their food to be served. It is also very useful to know if the customer has any specific food types in mind, and whether the food will be served indoors or outdoors. If it is a private event, it is important to know the budget per head, and if it is a public event it is important to include details of any pitch fees. Given all this information, we can use our expertise to put together a suitable quote that perfectly caters to the customer's needs.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Firstly, I would ask the provider about the food they offer to get a full understanding of their product and ingredients. You should be looking for a provider who is knowledgeable about their product and very proud of the food they offer. Secondly, I would ask the provider about their food hygiene rating as well as food safety and hygiene procedures to ensure that you select a provider that understands the importance of proper food hygiene standards. Finally, I would ask about the set up of the catering e.g. do they bring a van or gazebo, do they need kitchen facilities, how long to they need to set up etc. It is important to make sure that your caterer can provide everything you need at your selected venue.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I returned from a year travelling around the world and wanted to create a catering business that reflected all the amazing flavours I had experienced during my trip. With a family history and many years experience in catering I was ready to combine my passion for food with my commercial kitchen skills to start a new street food business. The Dilla Deli was created with a love of food at its heart and a commitment to serve high quality, homemade food in a fast-paced street food environment.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We have been offered many opportunities through Add to Event, both public and private events. We recently catered a large birthday party and the guests absolutely loved us! They were so pleased to have something a bit different on offer and our quesadillas were a real talking point. I would recommend Add to Event to anyone starting out in the mobile catering industry as it is a great way to connect with potential customers and they take all the hard work out of quoting.
