Here they supply advice on what to check when booking your own supplier.

What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

To provide a comprehensive quote to a customer we really need to know as much information as possible... we know just as well as anyone that sometimes details aren't known until nearer the date but as much detail as possible helps. We're looking for info such as whether the event is indoors or outdoors, an idea of the serving time window we'd have, would we have access to sufficient power and a drinking water supply, how many guests are expected and if there'll be multiple caterers. It may seem like overkill, but any info at all helps us.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

It's really important to get somebody who firstly offers a great product safely...take the time to check out images of the food, set-up then check reviews. Once you know you've found a supplier who offers a great product, and also has experience and the relevant insurances and certificates you can't go far wrong. Also, don't hesitate to ask the supplier anything at all, it may seem silly asking about a menu or equipment but you'll usually always find that we're more than happy to answer any questions at all.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Spud Gun was quite simply born from a developed love of all things street food! I'd always loved eating on the go at local events and festivals then when I began working for a new local start-up restaurant it was very easy for me to be pulled into the street food side of the new business....after 4 successful years of working and managing their events, I finally had the idea for Spud Gun and the North East's first and only dedicated Loaded Fries stall was born.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We've had a lot of interest through Add to Event, but one booking that sticks in my mind was a festival themed wedding north of Newcastle where we served around 200 guests throughout the day. Weddings are always so personal, friendly and fun so it's really fantastic to be able to do our bit to contribute to someones special day. The happy couple were also involved with a popular music magazine and so we've had a lot of events booked from guests at that wedding who had either tried the fries or had heard from someone who had. Add to Event is still pretty new for us but it's definitely helped events come to us acting alongside our socials and website and now forms a core part of our bookings.
