What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
In order to put together a really accurate quote the main information I need is the date, location and the party start and end time. Ideally a brief description on what the occasion is and style of music they might like really helps as well so that I can be sure I will be the right fit for their party. From that point I can put together a quote to suit the party's needs. I personally like keeping quotes nice and simple and try not to over complicate as I think there is nothing worse than getting a price which seems to increase all the time for various reasons.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
The best advice I can give is to find someone who will suit what you want. It is your celebration and its important it ends up going how you want it to. So you need to find someone who is working with you to provide that. Don't ever been afraid to ask questions and get in touch with the DJ. I make myself available all the time to my clients as whatever the event it is meant to be fun, but arranging it can be stressful, so you want to make sure any DJ you are booking helps things run smoothly. And my biggest tip would be book someone who makes you feel excited about your party. It can be stressful arranging these things, but book someone who you speak to or message that makes you wish you had the party that evening. You want them to share your enthusiasm.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
I started DJing many years ago in my bedroom when I was 12 and spent a long time working in nightclubs. Music has always been a huge passion of mine and always been a huge fan of such a variety of music. So DJing and music has always been a huge part of my life. With a wife and family spending my weekends in nightclubs to the small hours wasn't really an option. However the world of mobile discos was perfect for me. It allows me to keep playing all those guilty pleasures I LOVE and get people up dancing!
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
I've been so fortunate to have many. However there was a booking for a celebration of life for a young man who had passed away at 24. Speaking with this family before the event it was obviously a really difficult time and event for them to arrange. We had lots of conversations on the phone, they had provided his playlists of songs he loved to play during the evening and when I left the house I felt we had prepared as best we could and truthfully I didn't know what to expect once I got there. However the evening was fantastic. There were around 250 people there ranging from young to old. The family had done a brilliant job decorating the venue and from the second the first song was played people were up dancing. It truly was a brilliant celebration of someone. Different songs held different memories for people of him. It was a great evening. Everyone there was so welcoming and even had me up dancing! We danced, we sung, we laughed and we cried. It was a roller coaster of emotion for all there and myself, because as a DJ you get this amazing opportunity to be a part of moment in people's lives. These sort of events don't come around often, but thanks to Add to Event I was able to be part of a truly special moment in their lives and something that will stay with me forever as well.
