What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
To provide an accurate quote I need to know the following:
1. The date. Midweek discounts may apply.
2. The start and finish times.
3. Venue name and location.
4. Upstairs or ground floor.
5. Number of guests attending.
6. Type of event.
7. Your approximate budget.
8. Your musical requirements.
9. Indoors or outdoors.
10. Any optional extras you are looking for from lighting to dancefloors to photobooths.
With all this information I can provide an accurate quote. After you’ve booked I’ll ask for further information so I have everything I need to fulfil your booking.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
To hire the right DJ and mobile disco you should:
1. Read customer reviews on this site and other independent sources like Facebook.
2. Phone the Dj who you are thinking about hiring and ask questions and see how you get on. You’ll know by talking to them if they are the right Dj for you.
3. Check out their website. If they have a good website with lots of photos, videos, reviews and it looks professionally made it’s a good sign as they’ve invested in themselves.
4. Don’t hire the cheapest! Buying on price is never a good idea. The best DJs will always be the most expensive as they are the busiest and don’t need to discount their prices to get work. Their reputation and reviews guarantee them work.
5. Make sure your DJ has PLI and PAT tested equipment.
If you follow the above 6 steps you should get a good DJ and have a great party.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
I started as a DJ back in 1976, I always had a love of music and one day my next door neighbour asked me if I’d be interested in playing some music at the local ski club dance. As a 14-year-old being offered money to play music seemed like a dream job. It was my first gig and I loved it. After that, I started to buy proper disco equipment rather than use my powerful Hi-Fi and my road to becoming a full-time professional DJ had started.
Within a few years, I had a stunning disco and started to get a reputation as being an extremely good DJ. With more bookings came more money and more new equipment.
Now I have the most impressive mobile disco you’ll see in Scotland.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
I have had lots of bookings through Add to Event in the last year. All of them have been very successful and it would be hard to pick out a favourite. As you’ll see by my reviews my customers have consistently given me 5-star reviews with only one exception.
