JB Sounds
JB Sounds provide PA hire and Live Sound Engineering throughout Cornwall and beyond. Supplying equipment for live acts, DJs, public addresses, weddings or parties. As well as indoor events, JB Sounds can also provide equipment suitable for outdoor events for crowds of various sizes. There are a number of package deals available if you know what you're looking for, but you can also create a bespoke service to your exact event. All engineers are provided - so there's no fuss.
What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
For us to be able to provide a complete quote, we need to have a date, potential venue (whether this is indoor or outdoor), the number of people at the event and also whether there will be a live band, DJ or a mobile device to provide the music. From this information, we can suggest the best package deals and an accurate quote. Any other information such as technical riders can help us to specifically tailor our packages to suit your event ensuring that everything is thought of ahead of time.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
We would encourage customers to have an idea of how music will be provided, as we cannot quote for a band if the customer does not tell us how many are in the band or what instruments are being used as the quote, and therefore the amount of equipment provided, will differ dependent on the size of the band/act. We also need to know that if they think they may want to play music from a mobile device, that this is asked about in the quote as equipment will need to be provided for this service. It is also helpful if a customer knows exactly what they want, this should be specified before a quote is given. Customers should also be encouraged to inform us if an event date or location is not concrete and is subject to change as this may mean that equipment has already been allocated on a different date. A change of location may change the delivery charge.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
JB Sounds was created and started in 2013 by Jay Burleigh; a Live Sound Engineer based in Cornwall. He started up to ensure local people can have access to equipment that is expensive to buy outright at affordable hire prices to make sure all events can sound amazing. The quality of sound is important to all members of the team at JB Sounds but the affordability for the customer is at the core of all of our package deals.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
We love the format of Add to Event and the ease in which we can communicate with customers that we may not have been able to reach from other platforms. We have already had 2 confirmed bookings despite only using Add to Event for around 6 months. We have not yet carried out any of these yet as the dates are in the future but are looking forward to being able to provide our services. We have already recommended Add to Event to other local events organisers and entertainment professionals as we love the concept of being able to tailor make an event through local businesses.
