What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

A perfect quote would include the date, what sort of budget you have (it doesn't have to be exact - a range of for example £200-300 is close enough), and how long you want me to be there. Knowing what style of photography you want would help too. Then I'll know what equipment to bring with me - just my cameras and flashguns, or a full portable studio with lights and a printer.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

First, read their profile. If this is the type of work they do a lot of, you know you can rely on them. Make sure you see some samples of photos they've taken for other customers to be sure you're getting what you want. There's no point hiring someone who only uses a photo booth, if you want big prints or digital images for instance. Don't be scared to ask them about something specific either - you might want candid photos of your guests, but that shouldn't stop you asking for some posed photos of close family or friends as well.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I started way back as a teenager on my local newspaper. I really wanted to photograph people - some photographers are brilliant at landscapes, or they have the skills in a studio to make even an old banger look like a priceless antique. I prefer trying to bring out the personality of people, capturing them having fun. Taking photos of people having a good time is just the best job ever.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

A great example of what Add to Event can do for me and customers came from a job I did last December. I was hired by the daughter of parents celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary.
