Barefoot Stonebaked Pizza Company provide wood fired pizza and artisan Italian street food for events in the South West. Here they take some time out to talk about what got them into the business and their top tips for selecting the right supplier

What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

To provide a quote we would need the event date and a brief description of the type of event, an idea of how many guests we would be catering for and the venue address or postcode. We would need an outdoor area at least 4x4m with no overhanging low trees!

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I would ask what style of pizza the provider is serving as there are quite a few types and if I wanted a crispy Neapolitan style from a woodfired oven I'd be disappointed with a doughy spongy pizza from a gas oven.
It'd be worth finding out whether the provider caters for dietary requirements such as gluten free, dairy free, vegan etc.
I'd also like to see keen customer reviews on social media and ideally a 5 star hygiene rating.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Barefoot Stonebaked Pizza Company was started six years ago by a couple in North Somerset and quickly became a top pizza provider for weddings and private parties. The current owners George and Sue were looking for such a business for quite a few years until Barefoot came up for sale early 2018.

We worked closely with the founders through the summer and officially took over at the start of September, having soaked up all the invaluable expertise from the previous owners. Since going it alone we still enjoy rave reviews and have a healthy looking diary of business for the next year.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We've had a lot of great events through Add To Event all of which have been a pleasure and have always gone down very well. We were particularly pleased with the results of a three course wedding breakfast we did during mid December on probably the most horrible wet windy day of the whole year, not ideal for an outdoor pizza van and gazebo. Thankfully there was a large open sided barn which at least sheltered us from most of the rain, if not the wind, and all three courses went down exceptionally well leaving everyone very happy... and if I'm honest a little relieved!
