What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

Firstly, we would like an event date so we can check our availability. Then, a description of what type of event it is, and what catering is required. We specialise in bespoke, therefore we can adjust our menus to suit your needs. Also, any known timings, estimated numbers of guests and a venue address, would be really useful. Finally, whether the venue comes with full facilities for the caterer, i.e. commercial kitchen, crockery, cutlery, etc.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I would ask how long they have been established. I would also ask, if they have any testimonials from previous clients. Then, I would ask if their menus are adaptable to suit their tastes, budget and any special dietary requirements. I would also check if they have commercial premises, and where they produce their food. Also, whether they hold all the relevant public liability insurances. Finally, ask who their suppliers are.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

The company is headed up by Scott Farr, who is the Executive Head Chef and Stuart Gray, the Catering Manager. Both having over thirty Years experience, in all aspects of catering from intimate fine dining to large Corporate and Wedding functions. Back in 2008 we decided to set up our own catering business, to bring our wealth of knowledge directly to our clients and Scoff Catering was born.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We have had plenty of events booked through Add to Event over the years. All of them have gone extremely well! But, one I particularly remember was a wedding for Abbey & Ryan, last August at Muddifords Court. It was a sit down meal for 80 guests. They went for a traditional meal of cream of tomato soup and roast turkey with all of the trimmings.
