Here they share some tips on booking hog roasts, cook-and-drop services, and their passion for food.
What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
For us to provide a comprehensive quote to our customers and friends, ideally we need the event date, and a brief explanation of the type of event they are wanting. It's great to include the rough number of guests and venue location, if the location is inside or outdoors, and if any equipment is needed.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Always ask the provider about their product, for example, a hog roast: is it a whole hog or joints of meat? Where and how is the pig sourced, are the products they are offering homemade, fresh or bought? Why do they offer this service and what sort of customer base do they have? And most importantly, what's their scores-on-the-door rating and insurance details.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
JGLS Catering was started in 2005. I have been a chef for over 23 years working with many well-known names and clubs. I am a chef because I have a passion for good quality food and sustainability, so future generations can have the same options as us. I believe in taking food from local lands and showing all age groups safe foods to pick from fields and hedgerows. Nothing is more satisfying than making someone's special day even more special and knowing you were a part of that dream.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
We did a birthday party and they didn't quite know what they wanted but we talked them through the options and decided on a cook-and-drop service. We set up a hot buffet section and collect the dirty plates the next day. They had hot chicken curry and chilli with chef's special fried rice and paella for dietary requirements. The family were very nice and have asked for our details to be passed to other guests that night and have said they would use us again in the future. I would recommend Add to Event to all my catering friends and businesses.
