What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
Date, venue address, timings for the day, accessibility, required location of the bar once on-site and whether mains electricity is available. The number of guests and age range. Preferred means of payment.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
If plastic glassware is being used is it high quality and recyclable. What payment options are available, can guests pay for themselves by card, and can a bar tab be run and settled after the event? How are drinks chilled? Is all the rubbish removed? How many bar staff will attend. Will a Temporary Event Notice be required and who will apply for it.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
Having been made redundant after 30 years working in London for big Corporations I decided to take the plunge and work for myself. The bar is a family-run business with my son and we aim to offer a quirky and memorable drinks service which the host and guests will enjoy. Each event is unique and we work closely with the host to provide a bespoke drinks menu that will have something for everyone and at a reasonable price. Our main aim is to take away the stress and then clear up the mess!
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
We took the horse box bar to a farm in the summer of 2021 for a couple who had had to rearrange their wedding 3 times due to Covid and then 2 weeks before the big day the bar they had originally booked cancelled on them. We stepped in at the last minute and provided 150 guests with drinks throughout the afternoon and evening. The bride had invented her own banana-flavoured cocktail which proved interesting trying to source the various ingredients at short notice but we managed it. Without Add to Event, I do not think the happy couple would have found us so quickly.
