The Fizzy Bar provides a vintage horsebox, mobile bar for most events from weddings, corporate dos, private parties and public events such as fetes and festivals in Surrey, Sussex, Hants & parts of London.

What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

The first thing needed is the location (can a horsebox fit and is there access?), numbers of guests, type of event and the date and timings of the event. Also the type of bar you need - whether that's an open bar (all drinks funded by the host) a cash bar (all drinks paid for by guests) or a guests bar (part-funded by hosts, then moving to a cash bar once the funds are spent).
It's also very useful to let us know if you are providing power (regular household power is what we require).

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Firstly consider the time it takes to process a Temporary Events Notice. This is what makes the sale of alcohol, at a function, legal. The time for a TEN is ten working days excluding the day of submission and the day of the event. We work on the rule of 'the earlier, the better' for submission. If the provider of the bar isn't mentioning a TEN then be aware.
It's great if clients have a rough idea of the types of drinks that they want at their function. We are always on hand and ready to advise as well.
Another thing to consider is what type of bar services you want - do you want chilled drinks or all room temperature. For example, we have two draught lines that are chilled plus fridges to make sure drinks that need to be cold, really are. Other providers may not have these facilities.
All businesses of this type should also be registered with their local council as a 'Food Business' (even for bars serving only drinks). This means that the council is aware and will inspect the business to ensure correct standards and procedures are in place.
Finally, don't be afraid to ask about public liabilty insurance. We have insurance in place that covers the public and our staff.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I came from a corporate background and wanted to be my own boss. I've always had a very strong ethos around customer service and believe that, to a large extent, people buy from people. From our first interaction, my aim is to understand your needs and help you wherever I can, so that we can deliver a truly memorable and perfect event. It can be challenging to try and take a bar to the middle of a field and get it right, but it's a challenge that we all love and the reward of seeing people's faces as they come to the bar is worth all the hard work.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We recently attended a school PTA function, which may not seem like an event we would focus on!, but the fact that it was the first function they had conducted after the pandemic made it very special. Firstly, to be selected above a strong lineup of competition and then to receive the feedback we did was amazing. The weather stayed, mainly, good but the spirits of every one were just so high that even if it had poured it wouldn't have dampened the party atmosphere! For us, that smile on people's faces and the look someone gives you when they have that well-deserved drink that hits the spot perfectly is everything.
