Pietro's, fondly nicknamed 'the lemon van' by the public, is a 1975 Citroen H van, home to an events catering business in the North West. They provide authentic Italian street food and cuisine at all sizes of events, food and drinks festivals, and private events.

What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

To provide an accurate quote for a client, we need the event date, the approximate number of guests, the type of event, dietary requirements/allergies and the potential venue and its characteristics. From this, we can assess what equipment will be needed and start the process of producing a personalised menu.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Ask the caterer about their menu and how they have created it. Do they have a particular passion for certain ingredients? Ask how long they need to set up. Provide as much information as you can about your venue: is there power and water on-site? This can affect the cost and the practicality of providing the service. Are there any allergies they should be aware of? This can affect the menu and the preparation of the food if extra precautions need to be taken.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

Our passion for Italian food and hospitality is what ignited the spark to create Pietro's. We are incredibly passionate about providing the best food, best service and the best time for everyone at your event. We also appreciate that your aesthetics are incredibly important, especially for a wedding, so we always aim to provide food that not only tastes amazing but looks it as well. The look of our van is also important to us; the majority of our customers compliment its appearance.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We're fairly new to Add to Event; so far it has been amazing for reaching out to new clients. Our first clients on here, Kate and her husband Roger, were having a party to celebrate many milestones, a big birthday, a post-pandemic family reunion and a wedding all in one! They were brilliant clients, very clear about what they wanted. Despite some hiccups out of our control, everyone was very complimentary about the food and the display we provided. They gave us a wonderful review. I would definitely recommend Add to Event to others.
