Sweet Memories
Sweet Memories provides a mobile Vintage Sweet Shop serving traditional vintage style sweets from a refurbished horsebox trailer. They are happy to attend a variety of events such as country fairs, open-air events, markets. parties, weddings. business and corporate events.
What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
I have a newly refurbished and renovated horsebox trailer which has been completely refreshed and built as a victorian style sweet shop. It is lined with French Oak shelving and on these we store upwards of 70 different vintage style sweets such as bonbons, cola cubes and all the old favourites. Each of these is served by weighed measure (the old 1/4 of wine gums etc) The horsebox is beautifully kitted out with flowers and bunting to finish off the vintage image. The hire of the horsebox comes with two staff.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
The horsebox can be hired for a variety of events from parties to weddings to corporate events. Depending on the event, there is a basic hire charge and we have various packages where we offer a token system to hand to your guests and you determine the value of each token. These tokens are then exchanged for sweets. You could also just hire the horsebox to be at an event for customers to buy from if you did not wish to pre-pay for tokens.
We always want to make the event work for you - so we will always work within your requested guidelines and ensure that you get what you want.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
I am within 2 years of retiring from my career and at the start of COVID lockdown I wanted to start something which I could continue once I retired. I have always loved all things vintage and putting this business together so that it is as beautiful as it I today has been my passion for the last 18 months.
The interest in the horsebox at events has far surpassed my imagination as the feedback we have received has been really positive. We have attended 3 times as many events that we initially planned to attend as at each event - we are being asked to attend others when they see the horsebox trailer. Making this work is my passion and I am determined to make sure we fit in with the needs and requirements of any customer who books us so they are 100% satisfied with the service they are provided with.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
We only went live last week on this site and so are looking forward to our first booking. However, we have attended a number of open-air events in 2021 including vintage shows, Christmas markets and a corporate event at a private hospital where we served 250 staff with sweets. They are still talking about it now I am told and they want us back in the Spring of 2022.
