What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
As a professionally trained and independent celebrant, my ceremonies are all bespoke so I prefer the chance to talk with you first. Where is your venue? Is the ceremony inside or outside? Do you want a symbolic element to your ceremony? Do you need any religious elements? Are you mixed-faith?
For me it very important that we "click" - after all, we will be working together on one of the most important days of your life.
Tell me what you want in a Celebrant and what you want for your ceremony. Remember you would not buy a dress or shoes without trying them on first nor would you just say I want a cake - the ingredients will vary. I will not be the cheapest celebrant but I am experienced and will work closely with you to provide the ceremony you want.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Before choosing your celebrant think about what you want in your ceremony.
Do you want symbolic elements (eg Unity Candles, Sand Ceremony, Wine Box)?
Ask the Celebrant about their training and qualifications.
Ask the Celebrant about their insurance.
Ask the Celebrant about their experience (this does not always mean someone new will not be good).
Ask the Celebrant something specific that relates to what you are looking for in a Celebrant (is your wedding traditional or alternative).
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
Becoming a celebrant was almost a calling. I first attended a funeral that was taken by a celebrant and afterwards several friends and family said Alex - you would have done so much better. I have always been fascinated by other people's stories. Having travelled extensively and lived abroad I have had the fortune to enjoy and learn about many different cultures. When I found out about the role of a Celebrant I gave up my full-time job and re-trained - using many of my skills from my previous career.
My nature is compassionate, considerate, approachable and extremely dedicated. I am creative and a little quirky. Not much phases me, and, as someone who used to run a small youth theatre, I am used to dealing with the unexpected.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
Add to Event is new for me and so far I have already had one booking which I will be carrying out in June.
