Mary the Celebrant

Hello and Welcome. My name is Mary and I am a professionally trained civil Celebrant offering ceremonies to mark all of life’s big moments.

Whether it is welcoming a new child into a family, celebrating a couple’s love story, reaffirming their promises to one another, saying goodbye to a loved one or anything else in between, all ceremonies are an expression of our love for one another.

Why am I a Celebrant?

I became a Celebrant because I recognise the value of honouring and celebrating the rites of passage that form the rich and varied tapestry of our lives. Much of my decision to train as a Celebrant came about through my own life experiences, as is often the way. Firstly, my own wedding, 9 years ago. It was a beautiful day, filled with happiness and laughter, but I still felt that there was something missing. I felt very limited by the restrictions imposed upon us by having a marriage ceremony in a registrar’s office. At the time I had no idea what a Celebrant was, but I now know that a Celebrant-led wedding would have been just perfect for us, unique and personal.

Not every profession can claim such an intimate relationship with stories that provide so much richness to the work being done. We are a lucky tribe, indeed, to be counted among the storytellers of the world.
