I’m Simon Croft, the performer behind Sicromagic, and I’m proud to be one of Devon’s leading children’s entertainers.

For over 18 years, I’ve been helping families across Devon and the South West celebrate birthdays, school events, family fun days and special occasions with exciting, laughter-filled entertainment. My parties combine interactive children’s magic, balloon modelling, party games, music, mini discos and UV neon disco fun — all designed to keep the children fully entertained from start to finish.

As a parent, I know how stressful organising a children’s party can feel. You want the children to have an amazing time, but you also want the day to run smoothly without having to organise every game, fill every quiet moment or worry about whether everyone is joining in. That’s where I come in.

## From Childhood Wonder to Professional Magic

I’ve loved magic and entertaining for as long as I can remember. My first real memory of a magic show was at a birthday party when I was four years old. I remember the excitement, the laughter and proudly taking home a balloon dog at the end. That feeling stayed with me, and it’s one of the reasons I love creating those same magical memories for children today.

As a child, I was always performing. I put on puppet shows and magic shows for my grandparents from behind the sofa, took every chance to appear on stage at school, played Joseph in the school play and sang with the Manchester Boys Choir, performing at venues including Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall and the Free Trade Hall. Performing has always been part of who I am.

## How the Magic Began

When I was ten, my mum bought me a magic subscription magazine, with a new trick arriving in the post each week. That was when the obsession really began. I soon discovered a small magic shop in Stockport Market, where I spent weekends learning, practising and making friends.

Magic gave me confidence, helped me connect with people and made school life a lot more fun — especially when the teachers became part of the joke!

At university, while working in a hotel, I discovered I could earn more — and enjoy myself far more — performing magic in the hotel bar than I could working on reception. That was the moment I knew magic was what I was meant to do.

## Bringing Sicromagic to Devon

In 2007, I moved to Devon after meeting my wife and joined the local magic societies. This was where Sicromagic was born — my way of bringing fun, laughter and wonder to children and families across Devon and the South West.

In 2008, I was lucky enough to learn balloon artistry from Graham Lee, one of the UK’s leading balloon experts. His workshops and tutorials inspired me to add colourful balloon modelling to my shows, which quickly became a huge hit with children and parents.

Eighteen years later, I’m still learning from some of the UK’s best magicians and balloon artists, always looking for new ideas to make every party even more exciting, memorable and fun.

## A Member of The Magic Circle

In 2023, I achieved one of my lifelong dreams by becoming a member of The Magic Circle, one of the most respected magic societies in the world. Passing the exam on my first attempt remains one of my proudest moments.

Being part of The Magic Circle pushes me to keep my standards high, my performances fresh and my shows full of surprise, laughter and amazement.

My passion for magic is stronger than ever. Whether I’m performing at a birthday party, school event, wedding, christening, fete, fair, Halloween party or Christmas celebration, I always give my very best to make the children feel involved, excited and entertained.

I’m proud to have received a number of awards and professional achievements during my career, including being named Devon Close-Up Magician of the Year twice, Exonian Magician of the Year, Riviera Comedy Magician of the Year and winner of the Exonian People’s Choice Award in both 2015 and 2023.

I’m also a member of The Magic Circle and hold a certificate in Understanding Children with Neurodiversity, helping me provide inclusive, thoughtful and engaging entertainment for children with different needs.
