About Darren Cartledge Photography
I’m a Yorkshire-based wedding photographer specialising in relaxed, natural coverage for couples who want to enjoy their day without it feeling like a photoshoot.
Most of the couples I work with aren’t into posing or being in front of the camera all day - they just want to be present, spend time with the people they care about, and have everything captured as it really happens.
That’s exactly how I work. No dragging you away for hours, no awkward direction - just a calm, documentary approach that lets the day unfold naturally.
I regularly photograph weddings across Yorkshire and Hull, and also travel UK-wide with no additional fees.
Every wedding is covered by both myself and my wife, Susan, so nothing gets missed. While one of us is focused on the key moments, the other is capturing everything around them - the reactions, the atmosphere, and all the in-between moments that make the day what it is.
Full-day coverage starts from £1350 and includes two photographers, a luxury album, and UK-wide travel.
If you’re after natural, honest coverage without the usual fuss, I’d love to hear more about what you’ve got planned.

Our Story
I got into wedding photography because I was far more interested in what was actually happening during the day than staging it.
Early on, I realised the moments couples value most aren’t the posed ones - they’re the in-between bits. The reactions, the laughter, the things you don’t even notice at the time.
That shaped how I work now. My approach is relaxed and documentary-led, focusing on capturing the day as it really unfolds rather than directing it.
Over time, that’s evolved into covering weddings with two photographers as standard. It means we can be in different places, catch more of the story, and let everything happen naturally without slowing the day down.
I now photograph weddings across the UK, working with couples who want to enjoy their day without it feeling like a photoshoot - and still end up with a set of images that genuinely reflect how it felt to be there.

Our Team
I’m Darren, and I photograph weddings alongside my wife, Susan.
Because we work together all the time, everything feels natural and in sync. We don’t need to direct each other or overthink things - we just know where to be and when, which keeps the day flowing without interruption.
It also means you’ve got two people who are completely invested in what they do. While one of us is focused on the main moments, the other is capturing everything happening around them - the reactions, the atmosphere, and all the little in-between moments that often end up meaning the most.
We keep things relaxed and low-key. No big production, no awkward posing - just a calm, friendly presence so you can enjoy your day, knowing it’s all being captured properly.

Experience
I’ve been photographing weddings for years now, covering everything from smaller, relaxed days through to full, busy celebrations - so very little catches me off guard.
Over that time, I’ve learned how to handle whatever the day throws at us. Timings run late, weather changes, plans shift - none of it is a problem. We adapt, keep things calm, and make sure everything still flows naturally.
Working as a two-photographer team on every wedding has also been a big part of that experience. It allows us to cover more, react quickly, and capture moments as they happen without needing to step in or control the day.
I’ve also been recognised within the industry with awards for my work, but what matters far more is that couples come away with a set of images that genuinely reflect how their day felt - not just how it looked.

Typical Clients
Most of the couples I work with aren’t into posing or being the centre of attention all day - they just want to enjoy their wedding without it turning into a photoshoot.
They care more about real moments than perfect ones. Laughing with friends, time with family, and actually being present rather than being pulled away for hours.
A lot of them tell me they’re a bit awkward in front of the camera, which is exactly why my approach works for them. I keep things relaxed, step in when needed, and let the day unfold naturally.
I typically photograph full-day weddings across the UK, from laid-back countryside venues to bigger, busier celebrations - always with two photographers so nothing gets missed.
