I'm Mark, and I run DJ Mista MR from Harlow. I cover Essex, Hertfordshire and East London, doing weddings, corporate events, birthdays and private parties.

I've been working in music and events for over 20 years. I currently hold six regular venue residencies, including David Lloyd Harlow, so I'm behind the decks most weeks, not just the odd weekend.

I've been working in music and events for over 20 years. It started with a love of music and seeing what the right song at the right moment does to a room, and that's still what drives me now.

Over the years I've built DJ Mista MR into a full events business. Alongside DJing, I now offer lighting, LED dancefloors and a range of photobooths, so clients can book everything from one person they trust.

I hold six regular venue residencies, including David Lloyd Harlow, Old Harlow Cricket Club and Canonsbrook Golf Club, so I'm playing to live crowds every week. That keeps me sharp and means I know how to read a room, whether it's a wedding, a corporate event or a big birthday.

What I enjoy most is the moment the dancefloor fills and doesn't empty. Every event is different, and I put the same effort into a small private party as I do a 200-guest wedding.

Two decades in music and events teaches you that the music is only part of the job. The rest is everything around it, and that's where experience shows.

I know how a wedding day flows, from the first dance and cake cutting to the moment the older guests head home and the younger crowd takes over. I know a corporate audience needs a different approach from a 21st, and that a 50th can go from Motown to garage in one night if you read it right.

I've worked in grand ballrooms, barns, bars and seafront function rooms, with venues of every size and every set of rules. That means I plan the details early, such as load-in times, noise limits, power and where the kit should sit so it looks right in your photos.

When something changes on the day, like speeches running late or the meal overrunning, I adjust without fuss. Clients shouldn't notice any of that, and they don't.

Honestly, I don't have a typical client. No two events I do are the same, and that's what I enjoy about the job.

One weekend it's a couple who want their wedding to feel elegant, with soft lighting, candles and their names on the DJ booth, then a packed dancefloor once the evening guests arrive. The next it's a company Christmas party where the brief is simple: get the whole office dancing, from the new starters to the managing director.

I do a lot of milestone birthdays too. A 21st and a 50th need completely different nights, and I plan the music around the guest of honour and the crowd coming, not a standard playlist. Engagements, anniversaries, christenings and family parties all have their own feel, and I treat each one that way.

What my clients have in common is that they want someone reliable. They want a DJ who turns up on time, looks smart, works well with the venue and gets the mood right. Many add lighting, an LED dancefloor or a photobooth so they have one supplier for the lot.

Before every event, I take the time to find out who you are, who's coming and what you want the night to feel like. Whether it's 30 guests or 300, the planning is the same.

All my equipment is PAT tested, and I hold public liability insurance. I'm happy to send certificates to your venue ahead of the event, as many venues now ask for them.
