Our Story
Dough & Flame — Our Story
The story of Dough & Flame began over 15 years ago, long before the horse box, the events, or the queues of people waiting for fresh pizza. In my early twenties, I made a bold decision — to start my own business — and opened my first pizza restaurant. That's where my journey truly began.
Life took me in different directions, and I eventually moved away, but the passion for pizza never left. In London, I continued doing what I loved, working in a busy takeaway restaurant serving the fast-paced world of City of London offices. It taught me speed, consistency, and the importance of quality even when the pressure is high.
A few years later, one of my closest friends opened a pizza restaurant in East London just before Covid hit. I stepped in to help — offering consultancy, support, and everything I'd learned over the years. It reminded me how much I loved the craft, the creativity, and the community that forms around good food.
And then it was my turn.
After months of research, planning, and dreaming, I knew exactly what I wanted Dough & Flame to be. I designed the horse box conversion down to the smallest detail — every shelf, every surface, every inch planned with purpose. While the box was being transformed, I began the hunt for the right suppliers and the best ingredients. Once I found them, the testing began: the perfect flour mix, the ideal hydration, the yeast that would give my dough the flavour and texture I believed in.
My first booked event was fast approaching, and my vision was finally becoming reality.
That first event was the summer fete at my children's school — something I will always remember and cherish. The feedback was incredible. I was over the moon with how warmly the community welcomed my business. From there, things grew quickly: a pitch at a local pub, community events, private parties, and regular bookings that made Dough & Flame part of people's celebrations and everyday moments.
And I couldn't have done any of this alone.
With the support of my family — every encouraging word, every late night, every moment they believed in my vision — we got here together. They stood by me through the planning, the testing, the long days, and the exciting ones. Dough & Flame isn't just my dream; it's something we built as a family, piece by piece, with love, patience, and a lot of flour.
What I didn't expect was how meaningful it would feel to bring happiness with a slice of pizza. It wasn't something I thought about when I first started, but now it's one of the things that makes me proudest.
I believe in providing the best service and the best product for my customers. And if that's what you're after, you won't be disappointed when choosing us.
