Karen Simpson Photography

Hello, I am Karen. I am a full-time photographer based in Ayrshire, the West Coast of Scotland. I live in Kilmarnock with my son, my husband and my wee dog Daisy. I have always had a passion for photography, and I enjoyed taking photos for family and friends. I was overwhelmed with the positive comments I received on my work and decided to take it up on a more professional level. So, alongside lots of experience, I have also attended several workshops to continually develop my technique. I have always worked with children previously as a nursery nurse and as a childminder. Being a childminder not only allowed me to spend quality time with my son but also allowed me to develop my passion for photography. I began mainly taking photos of children's portrait sittings, cake smashes, and box sessions, along with a few family shoots. Outdoor shoots are a particular favourite with me. There are many wonderful local parks and beaches within and around Ayrshire, which offer ideal natural backdrops for any size of group. I have a small studio within my garden. This space allows me to consult with clients and carry out my very popular themed mini shoots in a cosy environment. I have now been shooting weddings for over seven years, and have been a full-time wedding photographer for over two years. Capturing photos that will be treasured for a lifetime is a big responsibility and one that I have loved. Being part of a couple's special day is a wonderful job to have. I have been so fortunate to be involved in weddings that were intimate or large celebrations. I can tailor any package to suit that personal vision each couple has for their special day.
