Mashquin

Mashquin brings a mini fashion studio to your party, event or classroom. Children design, cut, stick and stitch their own creations using real fabrics and our tabletop mannequins, and every guest goes home with something they made themselves.

We offer two main sessions:

DIY Mini Dress – a hand-sewn mini dress that teaches the basics of dressmaking, then lots of creative freedom to make it their own with stitching and colour. Around 90 minutes, best for ages 8+.

Fashion Canvas – children cut and stick fabric onto a designer canvas to create a take-home outfit, with hands-on time on a mini mannequin to develop their ideas. Easier for younger guests and great for larger groups.

Sessions can be themed for birthdays, Halloween, Christmas and other occasions, and everything is provided: fabrics, trims, tools and a friendly host who keeps things calm, creative and fun.

Mashquin was created by Marisha Mistry, a designer and maker who started it after watching her nieces get creative on her tailor's mannequin. Mashquin has been featured in Simply Sewing magazine, and our workshops at Desco Lounge have had children asking to stay longer.

Mashquin started at home, with my nieces and my tailor’s mannequin. Every time they visited, they’d pull out fabric scraps and pin, drape and restyle outfits for hours, completely absorbed in what they were creating. I realised there was nothing out there that gave children that same freedom to design with real fabric, without needing a sewing machine or a grown-up doing it for them.

I’m a designer and maker, and I wanted children to experience what it actually feels like to create something from an idea in their head. So I designed a tabletop mannequin kit, and then started taking it out into the world through workshops and parties.

What inspires me most is watching children who say “I’m not creative” end a session proudly holding something they made entirely themselves. Our sessions are relaxed and hands-on, and there’s no right or wrong outfit. Mashquin has since been featured in Simply Sewing magazine, and our workshops have had children asking if they can stay longer.

I’m a designer and maker with a background in fashion and textiles, including designing and producing my own range of children’s occasionwear. That’s where Mashquin grew from: years of working with fabric, mannequins and dressmaking, and seeing how much children love getting hands-on with it.

I’ve been running Mashquin fashion workshops for children since summer 2026, including our DIY Mini Dress and Halloween Costume Dress sessions at Desco Lounge, which sold well and had children asking to stay longer. Mashquin has also been featured in Simply Sewing magazine.

Every session is designed and delivered by me, with all materials prepared in advance, so it runs smoothly whether it’s a small birthday party or a larger group. I’m used to working with mixed ages and abilities, and I keep things calm, encouraging and fun so every child leaves proud of what they’ve made.

Our clients are families, schools and organisations looking for a creative experience that feels a little bit special. Many are parents planning a birthday party who want something more memorable than the usual entertainment, where their child and guests actually make something they’re proud to take home.

We also work with schools, holiday clubs and community groups who want a hands-on activity that builds confidence and creativity, as well as venues, cafés and brands looking to host family events or seasonal workshops.
