Our Story
Merit Foods was started from a passion for food, culture, and community. The business began in Nigeria, where it was built as a family-run restaurant serving affordable, home-style African meals. Being directly involved in managing the business in Nigeria provided hands-on experience in food preparation, customer service, and daily operations. This foundation helped shape the values and standards that Merit Foods is known for today.
The inspiration behind Merit Foods comes from a desire to share authentic African food while creating a welcoming space where people feel comfortable and valued. Food has always been a way of bringing people together, and that belief continues to guide the business.
With a strong background in hospitality and business management, including supervising staff and overseeing daily operations, the transition to the UK was a natural step. The aim is to continue building on the success of the existing Nigerian business by offering the same quality, affordability, and cultural connection to a wider and more diverse community in the UK.

Adeola brings hands-on experience from managing an established Merit Foods outlet in Nigeria, where the business operated successfully as a family-run restaurant.
Abiola serves as the Operations Manager, responsible for the day-to-day running of the business. This includes staff coordination, food preparation standards, stock management, and ensuring smooth service delivery. Abiola’s practical experience and attention to detail help maintain consistency, efficiency, and quality across operations.
Together, the team behind Merit Foods is committed to delivering authentic African cuisine, affordable meals, and a welcoming environment for every customer.
